Alexis Pereira Wins 2015 JFL in Stunner
Look out Hollywood: there's a new ethnicity in town.
Queens-based Latino comedian Alexis Pereira overcame an 81-72 4th quarter deficit to Tim Robinson to win the 2015 Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.
WME President Ari Emmanuel (Entourage) said it was the greatest JFL comeback victory since Eddie Murphy stole the crown from Jon Lovitz.
"Never give up. That's the lesson. Alexis Pereira is not a person you'd think would ever make it, and here he is: still around. I think a lot of people think that about him."
Scouts for SNL were in the audience. While they admitted they probably couldn't use Alexis, they predicted big things for Robinson.
"He's got a Netflix series written all over him. Just a wildly talented guy."
Alexis is hoping his JFL victory will lead to bigger things down the line. He's already had offers from CBS, ABC, and TBS (very funny). But he's already made his choice.
"SeeSo gave me a presentation that just knocked my socks off. I'd rather start an empire from the ground up," said Pereira.
But are politics also in his sights?
"When Obama leaves office, I'd love to work for the Clinton Administration," he continued.
The sky's the limit for this 32 year old.
